How Do I Only Charge GST on a Food Order?

If you are Canadian client and looking to apply only GST to a food order, you will want to specify this on product setup. For more information on adding a new product, click here.

During product setup, you will see a field called 'Tax Type.' In that field, select 'Food' as the Tax Type. 

For this example add the product as General Merchandise.

Under the Tax Type drop-down, select Food.

Next, check that your GST tax rate is correct and that the PST tax rate for food is set to 0. You can check this under Settings > Taxes. For more information on how to setup tax rates in Commerce7, you will want to review our documentation on Setting Up Tax Rates.

We recommend testing an order to ensure the food product is only charging GST as intended.
