A Product Variant is like a 'sub-product' under your main product.
It is used to display options or properties of a certain product such as, t-shirt size (small, medium, large etc.) bottle size (750ml, 1.5L etc.) or ticket price (single, adult, child etc.).
You can add your Product Variants at the time of product setup. For more information on how to add products in Commerce7, click here.
Your variants will then display as a drop-down on the product both on your website and POS.
Limitations & Rules to Using Product Variants
There a few caveats to keep in mind when utilizing Product Variants:
- When Variants are used, you cannot display a single Variant on the website. All Variant options will appear together in a dropdown menu.
- You cannot manage the web or admin status at the individual Variant level; these settings can only be applied to the product as a whole.
- Individual Variants cannot be targeted separately for promotions or allocations.
- Each Variant requires a unique SKU.
