Allowing In-Person/Onsite Shipping Orders (While Restricting Web Orders)
Depending on your Compliance/State regulations, you may be able to ship to restricted states if it's an Onsite Order
Certain states permit shipping to restricted states if the Customer places their order in person (onsite) at your winery or tasting room.
Example:
- Your state and/or compliance licensing does not allow you to ship to Michigan.
- But if the Customer places the Order onsite while visiting, then you are allowed to ship their wine to Michigan.
- Consequently, you need a way to disable shipping to Michigan via online Orders - while still allowing your POS or Admin staff to process onsite Orders that are shipping to Michigan.
Here's how:
- Go to Settings > Operating Countries.
- Click the pencil icon in the United States section.
- Check off states that you'd like to ship to (including those that allow for only Onsite shipping).
- When complete, click the Save button.
- Next, head over to Setup > Shipping.
- Click the Add Shipping Zone button.
- Add a Title (example: 'Onsite Only States') and click the Continue button.
- Click the Add button beside the United States option.
- In the popup modal, check off your Onsite only States.
- Click the Save United States button.
- Scroll down and click the Add Shipping Method button.
- Enter in the Method details.
- !! IMPORTANT !! Be sure to check the 'Not available on Web' box.
- Scroll down in the modal and enter in the rates.
- Click the Save Shipping Method button.
- Result: Your staff will have the capability to place orders in person at the POS or Admin, while customers will not be able to place orders online for shipping to restricted states.
