How do I add a preferred shipping method to a club membership?

In Commerce7 you can include a preferred shipping method for your club members based on the shipping services you have setup. For example, if your default shipping is UPS, and you have a club member that wants FedEx, you can override their shipping permanently by editing their club membership.

 


 

Adding a Preferred Shipping Method

Note: This is a contentious feature. Almost all modern clubs and ecommerce businesses like Dollar Shave Club, BirchBox, Amazon, Apple, etc do not allow carrier selection. We recommend you do the same.

  1. To add a preferred shipping method for your club members, go to Clubs > Memberships and search for the club member that you want to edit
  2. Under the Billing and Shipping section of the page, you will see a section called Preferred Shipping Service. Click the Edit button and choose from the drop down menu the shipping option for this member.

  3. Select the new Shipping Service and click Save Shipping Service.

    The shipping options in this section must be setup under Settings > Shipping beforehand. For more information on how to setup Shipping Zones and Carriers, click here.
  4. You're done!

There is no way of changing the shipping method in bulk for multiple club members. If you have small changes they would need to be done per club profile. If you require to do a bulk change we recommend to reach out to Treefrog Digital who is our partner in Data Migration.
