Installing a Printer Certificate on Windows
NOTES FOR WINDOWS MACHINES
Power the printer off before attempting to download the certificate. The certificate should include the URL that was set as the common name and a validity of 1 year. If you see the default certificate 0.0.0.0 and an expired certificate then the printer has not reset.
When downloading the generated certificate be sure to download the file as Base64-encoded ASCII, certificate chain.
- Ensure that you have created an SSL certificate and have it saved on your computer.
- Locate the certificate in your downloads folder and double click on the certificate.
- The "issued to" should match the URL that you set up as the printer common name.
- The "Valid from" should be for 1 year.
- Click Install Certificate.
- This should load the Certificate Import Wizard tool
- Set Store Location = Local Machine
- Click the Next button.
- Select “Place all certificates in the following store” > browse > Trusted Root Certification Authorities > OK
- Click the Next button.
- The modal should let you know when installation is complete.
- To verify that the certificate has been installed in the correct location, use the windows computer search tool to local Manage computer certificates in Control Panel.
- In the MCC expand Trusted Root Certification Authorities > Certificates and locate the certificate. This is confirmation that it is installed.
- Before testing the printer in Commerce7, restart the computer to save all settings and configurations.
- Back in Chrome, if you navigate to the URL for the certificate/printer you should no longer see the “Your connection is not private” message.
- Log in to the POS and attempt to print a thermal receipt.
