Steps to migrate to Commerce7 Payments for both existing clients and onboarding clients

The process to migrate to Commerce7 Payment is slightly different if you are

We have outlined the steps for both scenarios below along with the steps for the credit card migration. We assist all clients through this process but if you have any questions please reach out to payments@commerce7.com. 

Steps to migrate to Commerce7 Payments in onboarding (for new clients) 

  1. Navigate to Settings > Payments > select Sign Up on the Commerce7 Payments section. Fill out the form and provide as much information as possible. (about 2 minutes to complete) 
  2. Once you complete the form, you will receive an application link back (typically receive the application link within 24 hours) 
  3. Complete your application (timeline varies on how much time you take to complete the app).
  4. Application review (timeline varies on underwriting - sometimes need additional info, so if you supply that quickly the process is faster. (1 day to 2 weeks).
  5. Once your application is approved we will activate Commerce7 Payments for you and provide information to test an order and we will provide instructions to activate Stripe. Stripe will only be used to process orders when Apple Pay and Google Pay are selected on you website. 
  6. We provide information on available EMV terminals and place an order for the terminals. (timeline depends on availability of terminals) 
  7. If you require a credit card migration from your previous gateway we will assist with this migration and provide you with the information and copy to send to all parties involved. See below for more detailed timeline on credit card migrations. 
  8. Commerce7 Payments and Stripe have to be active and the credit card migration complete in order to launch with Commerce7.  

Steps to migrate credit cards to Commerce7 Payments from another payment processor (for existing clients) 

  1. Navigate to Settings > Payments > select Sign Up on the Commerce7 Payments section and fill out the form. (about 2 minutes) 
  2. Send 6 months of statements from your current payment processor(such as CardConnect) to payments@commerce7.com in order to match your current rate. 
  3. Once a rate is confirmed you will receive an application link and you can complete the application. (timeline varies on how much time you take to complete the app)
  4. We will send you a notification when the application is approved and schedule a time with you to activate Commerce7 Payments. Once Commerce7 Payments is activated all new transactions will run through Commerce7 Payments. If you activate Commerce7 Payments before completing a credit card migration any cards tokenized with your previous payment processor will still process through that processing account. The multi-gateway ensures there is no interruption with processing orders and the finance reports will provide which gateway was used for easier reconciliation. 
  5. We provide information on available EMV terminals and place an order for the terminals. (timeline depends on availability of terminals) 
  6. At this time we will initiate the card migration from your previous payment processor.

    1. Your previous payment processor will charge a fee to complete the export, but Commerce7 will cover the labour involved in managing the migration (tokenizing on our end, mapping cards and importing into Commerce7). The time for this step depends on the processor. For CardConnect, this is typically about 2 weeks.

Credit Card Migration Process

Current gateway and MID is required for the credit card migration and once we submit the job for the credit card migration it will trigger an email to you with instructions and copy to use. 

  1. You will send an email introducing VGS with your current gateway. We have instructions and a copy and paste email that you will be sent after the job is submitted.
  2. Your current gateway may have some follow-up requests to complete the export. There may also be an export fee depending on the number of cards you’re exporting.
  3. Your gateway will send the token file to VGS (it's usually about 1-2 weeks depending on how fast you get them what they need).
  4. VGS will tokenize the cards on our end. (This is about 2 days).
  5. If you are a current client, our team will map the cards in C7 and complete the upload.
    1. If you are a new client, your data migration partner will complete this step.
  6. You will then be fully live with C7 Payments.
