Steps to install a self-signed SSL Certificate on an iPad

Installing a Printer Certificate - iPad 

  1. Follow the instructions to create an SSL certificate on either MacOS or Windows to create a .cer file and email that file to yourself. 
  2. Access your email and click on the .cer file that is attached to the email.

  3. The file should download to your ipad and you should see a popup which says “Profile Downloaded. Review the profile in the Settings app if you want to install it”.

  4. Locate the Settings icon on your iPad and navigate to General > VPN & Device Management. You should be able to search for the word “Profile” to easily access the section as well.

  5. Click on the SSL profile you downloaded under the Downloaded Profile section.
  6. Click Install in the upper right corner of the modal.

  7. Click Install on the warning modal.

  8. Once complete the profile should display that it is verified.

  9. The certificate must also be “Trusted”. Navigate to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust settings or search “Certificates”. 
  10. Toggle the switch next to the certificate to active (green), which should open the “Root Certificate” modal. Click Continue in the modal to complete the trust setup.

  11. Login to the POS and attempt to print a thermal receipt.
