How is the Sales by Department Report Calculated?

Sales by Department Report: Calculated at the Product level (depending on the Department of each Product in an order).

Quantity column: Calculates the number of Products sold in a given Department (as opposed to the number of Orders).

Example: If one Order was placed purchasing two Products with a Department of "Wine", and two Products with a Department of "Food", both the Food and Wine rows in the Sales by Department report would increase by two.
