Enabling Google Pay & Apple Pay for your Website with Fullsteam Payments

Mobile wallets allow your customers to complete their online purchase quickly with information from their existing Google or Apple account.

This feature is currently in Beta, but will be available to all clients with Fullsteam Payments as their payment gateway soon. If you'd like to participate in the beta testing period, please email andrea@commerce7.com.

With mobile wallets, customers are able to quickly complete a product purchase online. If they do not have an account with your winery or are not logged in, on the first step of Checkout or Club Signup they will be presented with the option use a mobile wallet.

By clicking on this option, a window will open where customers can use all of their existing shipping and payment information from their Google or Apple account without filling out additional fields on your website. All they need to do is simply click "Pay" to complete their purchase.

** Please note that this feature is only available on Frontend V2.

Enabling Mobile Wallets

Google Pay

If you have a Fullsteam Payments account, Google Pay is automatically enabled for you with no setup steps. Customers will see the option to pay with Google Pay in both Google Chrome and Safari.

Apple Pay allows customers to pay and complete their purchase with their existing Apple account.

Enabling Apple Pay requires a couple of simple setup steps.

  1. Go to Settings > Payment
  2. Under "Apple Pay" click Enable to open the setup steps applePay-1
  3. In order for Apple Pay to work, you'll need to upload a file to the path listed. Click  Download to download the file.

  4. Open up your website files or work with your website designer on this step.
    1. Create a folder in the root / main directory called .well-known (This needs to have a period before "well-known".)
    2. Click into the folder then upload the file that you just downloaded.
    3. That's it!
  5. Click to register your domain in the section below. By default, the URL from your general settings will pre-populate and you can edit it if you need to. Then click Register.

  6. And that's it! Click the "x" or "Cancel" to close the window. As long as the file is uploaded to the correct spot and your URL is registered, Apple Pay will now appear as a payment option for guest customers in Safari.

Completing a Purchase with Mobile Wallets

Customers will see the option to pay with Google Pay in both Google Chrome and Safari and they will see the option to pay with Apple Pay in Safari, if the setup steps above are completed.

To see it in action:

  1. Go to your website in Safari or Chrome.
  2. Make sure that you are not logged in as a customer to your account. Mobile wallets currently only appear for new/guest customers. As they don't have any information saved with you yet, these customers receive the biggest benefit from mobile wallets.
  3. Add a product to your cart and click Proceed to Checkout
  4. On the first step, there will be a new option for Google Pay and Apple Pay (if in Safari and you've completed the setup above ^).

  5. If Pay with G Pay is clicked, the Google modal will open with all of the customer's Google account information populated. The customer can add or edit their information and select the shipping or pickup option they prefer and click Pay.

  6. If Pay with Apple Pay is clicked, the Apple modal will open with all of the customer's Apple account information populated. In the same way, the customer can add or edit their information and select the shipping or pickup option they prefer and click Pay. If they have an iPhone or Macbook nearby, the prompt to pay will appear on their device instead (which is what is happening below).

  7. Once the customer pays through this window, they'll see the standard order confirmation page online and the order will be complete.

FAQs

  1. I already have Mobile Wallets enabled through Stripe. What's the difference?
With Mobile Wallets through Fullsteam, the biggest benefit is that you'll be able to use a single gateway for future transaction instead of having to use multiple, but there are also some customer-facing improvements such as improved error messaging and the ability to see Google Pay as an option regardless of it you're logged into your Google account.
Please note: For the initial release, please keep your Stripe account open so that any tokenized credit cards added from Stripe can still be used by customers. We'll send out a notice when your account can be closed.
  2. What will happen when the new feature is released if I already have Mobile Wallets through Stripe?
Mobile wallets will automatically be switched over to use the new and improved wallets through Fullsteam. All future mobile transactions will now go through Fullsteam instead of Stripe. You'll see Google Pay as an option for guest customers on your website with zero setup steps. To add Apple Pay as a payment option for Safari, you'll need to complete the steps listed above. If you previously set up Apple Pay with Stripe, you can remove the domain file you previously added for Stripe and replace it with the Fullsteam file.
