Can the "Email Marketing Status" be set to "Subscribed" by default?

Unfortunately, there is no way to have Email Marketing Status set to Subscribed by default. The customer would have to subscribe themselves to your mailing list by explicitly checking the subscribe checkbox since this is their consent to give. Based on our research, subscribing by default is against spam laws for many regions.
