BC to AB (Alberta) Shipping Tax / Fee
Understanding the Fee/Tax charged by BC wineries shipping to Alberta (and how to disable it)
What is it?
This is a fee that should be charged by BC wineries when shipping to Alberta.
When is it charged?
If wine is being shipped from BC to Alberta, Commerce7 will automatically calculate and apply the fee to the Order.
How is it calculated?
The base fee is calculated using each Product's (wine) alcohol percentage.
- Once the base Alberta Admin Fee has been enabled, there is an additional option to collect the "ad valorem markup" in addition.
- If bottles in the order qualify for the ad valorem markup, based on price per L, Commerce7 will calculate and apply the markup to the existing "Alberta Admin Fee" line item in the order.
- Example:
- (1) Chardonnay is purchased: $22, 20% alcohol, 750ml
- Alberta Admin fee charges $6.88 per litre = $5.16
- Ad valorem fee: $22 (price) / 750ml (volume) = $16.5 per litre. Add 5% = $1.10
- Total Alberta Admin Fee for this item = $6.26
- (1) Chardonnay is purchased: $22, 20% alcohol, 750ml
