What is VinoCheck?

VinoCheck is modern wine compliance software built specifically for wineries selling direct-to-consumer. It gives your team one simple platform to calculate destination-based taxes and fees, check orders for compliance, and generate filing reports.

Tax & fee calculation: Calculate destination-based sales tax, wine taxes, and applicable regional fees at the order level.

Real-time compliance checks: Automatically check orders against state shipping rules, license requirements, volume limits, dry areas, and other compliance requirements.

One-click filing reports: Generate state sales tax, excise tax, and direct shipper filing reports with the data organized and ready for submission.


How VinoCheck Works

VinoCheck integrates directly with Commerce7 to help wineries manage compliance automatically throughout the order lifecycle.

  • Calculate taxes and fees at checkout
    Once the integration is enabled, VinoCheck automatically calculates destination-based taxes, wine-specific taxes, and applicable fees before the transaction is processed, based on the customer’s shipping destination.
  • Check orders for compliance
    After an order is processed, VinoCheck checks it against state shipping rules, license requirements, volume limits, dry areas, and other compliance requirements.
  • Manage non-compliant orders
    Orders that fail compliance checks are quarantined. Quarantine status and recommended actions are pushed back into Commerce7, so orders can be reviewed and managed directly in Commerce7 or inside VinoCheck.
  • Generate filing reports
    Order, tax, fee, and compliance data is stored in VinoCheck, allowing wineries to automatically generate pre-populated state reports and filings with one click.

Connecting VinoCheck to Commerce7

Before you connect

  • Before enabling the Commerce7 integration, you will need an active VinoCheck account. After signing up, the VinoCheck team will create your tenant and send instructions for logging in and configuring your state settings.

  • In VinoCheck, you will configure the states where you sell or ship wine, including relevant license information, sales tax permits, expiration dates, and any applicable state-specific preferences.

Connecting the integration

  • Once your VinoCheck state settings are configured, contact the VinoCheck team to schedule your go-live kickoff call.

  • During the kickoff call, the VinoCheck team will walk you through enabling the Commerce7 integration and answer any setup questions. 


Historical data import

  • After your go-live kickoff call, the VinoCheck team will import your year-to-date historical data into VinoCheck. This helps ensure your reporting and filing data is available in one place.
