Overriding Operating Countries for a Product

Override Operating Countries at the Product level

Do you ship both alcohol and non-alcohol Products? 

If you ship both wine and t-shirts, it can pose a compliance challenge because t-shirts can be shipped to all states while wine can only be shipped to certain states. You can address this challenge with the Operating Countries Override feature.

• Example: You cannot ship wine to Maryland. But you can ship tshirts to Maryland.

There are two steps to this:

• • First step: Configure your Operating Countries.
  • Second step: Configure the Override states on the individual Product(s).

First step: Configure your Operating Countries

In this scenario, the goal is to be able to ship t-shirts to all states, while restricting wine shipments to compliant states only.

1. Go to Settings > Operating Countries.
   
   
2. Click the pencil icon beside the applicable country (in this case, the U.S.).
   
   
3. Select the checkboxes for the states where you ship both wine and non-wine Products and Save.
   

Second step: Configure the Override states on the individual Product(s)

1. Go to Store > Products and choose an applicable Product (it will likely be wine).
2. Click on the Compliance tab.
3. Click the pencil icon beside the country you want to edit.
   
4. Check off the states where this Product can be shipped and click the Save button.
   
   
   
   
5. Repeat with any alcohol Products that will be shipped.
   Note: You do not take any action on non-alcohol Product(s).
