Order Channels
Order Channel Definitions
What is an Order Channel?
Order Channels identify where an Order originated in Commerce7.
Available Order Channels
- Web - Orders originated on your website
- POS - Orders originated on the POS
- Inbound - Orders originated on the Admin Panel
- Club - Orders originated from the Club section
Can you change or edit a Channel on an Order?
Yes, but there are caveats.
- Channels can only be edited on Carts (unprocessed orders). Once the order has been processed, you cannot edit the Channel.
- Editing a Channel on a POS Cart: Available Channels are POS, Inbound and Club (if customer is a club member). This action can be found under 'Additional Order Info' in the Cart.
- Editing a Channel on a Cart in Admin: The available Channel options depend on the original source of the cart.
- If the Cart originated on the Web, in addition to Inbound and Club, you'll also see Web as an option.
- If the Cart originated in the POS, in addition to Inbound and Club , you'll also see POS as an option.
- If the Cart originated on the Web, in addition to Inbound and Club, you'll also see Web as an option.

Remember that Channels define where the Order actually originates from, so the best practice is to leave the Channel defaulted, if possible. This keeps your reporting clean.
If you frequently need to update Channels, we recommend assigning a Sales Attribute instead. Learn how here.
