How to Change Inventory Policy.

In Commerce7, you can change the inventory policy for every sku to be set to either "Don't Sell" or "Back Order". 

If a sku's policy is set to "Don't Sell", when inventory runs out customers will not be able to purchase the sku. 

If a sku's policy is set to "Back Order", when inventory runs out customers will be able to purchase the sku.

Inventory policy is first set when a product is created. 

 

To adjust the inventory policy on an existing product, navigate to Store > Inventory, and select the product you wish to change the inventory policy on. 

After selecting the product, use the drop down menu to select "Adjust Inventory Policy". 

 

 

Now use the drop down menu to select either "Back Order" or "Don't Sell".

 

 

When you have selected your inventory policy, click "Adjust Policy For All Locations For This Sku". 

In Commerce7, you cannot have a different inventory policy based on inventory location. For example, a sku cannot have a back order policy for tasting room inventory and a don't sell policy for club shipping inventory.
