Product Collections are simply a fancy name we give to grouping your products together... White Wine, Red Wine, Rose... and so on, and so on.
Product Collections can be manual or dynamic. Manual Collections require an admin to assign the product to a collection at setup. Dynamic Collections will automatically add products to a collection based on preconfigured criteria.
You can also have Product Collections specific to only the POS if you want.
When setting up your collections, you should ask yourself questions like, 'how do I want my products to be grouped on the website?' Or, 'what product groups would make it easier for my tasting room staff to ring up products for guests on the POS?'
How Do I Setup a Collection?
To create a collection for your website, go to Store > Collections in Commerce7 and then click "Add Collection."
Title your collection however you'd like. For an example, I'll create a "Staff Picks" collection. You can also add content to explain the collection.
At this point, you can decide whether you want a collection to be manual or dynamic. Manual Collections require an admin to assign the product to a collection at setup. Dynamic Collections will automatically add products to a collection based on preconfigured criteria.
You can change the meta tag title and description if you'd like, as well as the slug. The meta tag title and description are used for SEO, the slug is the end of the URL used by the front end page.
Once you've setup your collection, click the "Add Collection" button at the bottom of the page.
To add a product to your collection, click into the collection you just created, scroll to the bottom of the page and search the product to add. You can easily add and remove products with the plus or minus sign on the right of each product.
You can also add products to a collection from the individual product page
Scroll down on the product page until you find the "collections" field. Select your new collection and click "Add". Then click "Save Product" at the bottom of the product page.
You can change the order the products appear on your website by dragging and dropping each product. Select the cross arrow to the left of the product, hold and drag to the position you want.
How Do I Add a Collection to My POS?
Setting up collections for your POS starts the same way as setting up collections for your website. Click on Store > Collections > Add Collection.
When you create a collection in Commerce7, the collection will not automatically be placed on the POS. Collections must be manually added to the POS after they are created.
To do this, navigate to Settings > POS Profiles > and select add POS Profile or click into a profile you have already setup.
Scroll to the section called 'Product Menu.' From the drop-down menu, select a collection you wish to add to your POS, and click "Add". Make sure to click "Save POS Profile" when complete.
To sort the order of collections on your POS, simply drag and drop a collection up or down the POS menu.
After sorting the order of your collections, click "Save POS Profile", and navigate to the POS to confirm your collections are in the correct order.
To remove a collection from your POS, simply click on the circle icon on the right hand side of your collection. Make sure to click "Save POS Profile" when complete.
